But for the web, grids and squares can't go much further.

Designers in flat camp bind themselves needlessly to a vocabulary of squares. Stop! Be memorable! It's like bad 50s ad, where copy was all they could put together.

The future is not square. Look at the print work of Casa Rex, Kyle Bean, Sagmeister & Walsh... how could you apply these to web? Even look to Frank Stella, Robert Indiana, Charles Demuth, rug artisans and (physical) wallpaper designers.

I guess you web designers can't give up the grid, but you'll never coax the skeuomorphiles over to flat camp until you break the square.

Re: laetare brewing company

Thanks, Eric! Although that did look like a lot of fun and a great way to get rid of some stress during finals. Anywho.. being a commuter campus and all it'd be hard to get that many students there.

Re: Congrats Class of 2012!

Thank you so much! I've seen this all over the social media sites - you must be so proud! Congratulations on graduation and GO DUKES!

Re: Congrats Class of 2012!

I'm glad you caught this mistake. Unfortunately, when I posted it on social media and it started to spread virally, it was too late to take back that mistake. IT's KILLING ME.

Thanks for the kind words! I'll be working in Washington, DC at a mobile marketing firm starting in June.

GO DUKES!

Re: Congrats Class of 2012!

Looks great. As a JMU graphic design alum, I have to ask that you fix the spacing of the "way of life" line so it aligns better with the rest of the type. It's driving me nuts that all the type isn't left-aligned, but otherwise happy to see this come to life! Congrats on your graduation and good luck with job hunting.

Re: I’m a player on Dribbble!

Finally I hear some sense. I've recently been inivte by Dribbble itself after about 6 months of been signed up. During this time I have been seeing many of those non-sense contest and always had a good laugh at that. Just because you have an inivte doesn't mean you need to be a douche about it. Maybe that's the trick to get some easy followers instead of earning them with good work. But I still think Dribbble is a nice community the good work on there is inspirational and keeps you motivated to improve. But the fact is that Forrst is more of a community than Dribbble can ever be. As people are more humble, they are more helpful and there is a lot more exchange I have the feeling that I post on Dribbble if my work is flawless and on Forrst if it is a work-in-progress to get some feedback.

Re: John Mayer Album Art

Hi!I'm a big John Mayer fan ever since his Room For Square days and, like you, I was more than excited to see him live in Manila. The rain did not stop the rrlevey last Frida, in fact, it added to the concert ambience, as if to tell me that rain or shine, John will deliver and he did. I love that he played most of his Room For Squares songs. He;s definitely the artist I'll be following until I grow old. Here's hoping for more JM concerts this side of the world.
